What is Graphology?

The word graphology was derived from the Greek word “Graph” meaning “writing” and “ology” which means “study”.

Graphology is the scientific and analytical study of handwriting, to gain an understanding of an individual’s character and personality. It is an insight into his/her past for things that have shaped his/her personality. More importantly it is a diagrammatic representation of a person’s mental and physical health.
In simple words it is a study of handwritings, to understand the character & personality as well as physical & mental state of the writer.

It is important to understand that graphology studies the hand/body movement that a person makes to create an external print of what he/she is thinking. Therefore doodles, paintings etc. are also a distinct area of study within graphology. It is for this reason many of those who study graphology also call it brain writhing or brain prints.
